Accessibility statement
Draft: independent audit pending:
This statement is a draft for the demonstration build. No independent accessibility audit has been carried out yet, and no one should read it as a claim of full conformance.
Our target
We are building this site to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 level AA.
What has been checked so far
- Automated checks with axe-core on every page type, with no serious or critical issues reported.
- Keyboard-only traversal of the main journeys in an automated browser test.
- Colour contrast calculated from the colour values (see the style guide).
- Layout checks at a 320 pixel wide screen and at 200% zoom.
What has not been checked yet
- Testing with screen readers (for example NVDA, JAWS, VoiceOver, TalkBack) and with speech recognition and switch access.
- Testing on real phones and tablets.
- The final college typeface, photography and video, which are not in place. Placeholder illustrations are used.
- Third-party systems linked from the site (for example booking and application systems), which have their own accessibility.
Known limitations
- Automated tests cannot judge whether alt text, headings and link wording make sense. These need human review.
- Distances shown for postcode searches are approximate and are not a route or journey time.
